About the Artist - Linnea Greenlund
I first fell in love with stained glass wandering the great cathedrals of Europe - Paris, London, Cologne. I would lose myself for hours in the light filtering through rose windows, marveling at the timeless union of craft, myth, and architecture. When I returned home, I was determined to demystify the artform for myself. What began with a single class (and quickly unlearning its poor methods) became years of self-teaching, a journey of trial, error, and passion that grew into my life’s work.
With a background in history focused on the Renaissance, Enlightenment, and the grandeur of Rome, I draw constant inspiration from classical art, gothic architecture, and ancient folklore. My pieces are rooted in these traditions: each work not only a window ornament, but a vessel of myth, story, and symbolism, crafted in a medium as enduring as the cathedrals that first sparked my devotion.
Becoming a full-time artist was not just a career choice - it was a reclamation of freedom. After surviving and rebuilding my life from an abusive relationship, followed by a few unfulfilled years in an desk job, I chose stained glass as both my sanctuary and path forward. It has given me what I longed for most: autonomy, time, and the chance to create something lasting. My studio is where I practice freedom on my own terms - an art that requires patience, sharp edges, and care, much like the journey that brought me here.
Today, every piece I make is both a personal meditation and a gift meant to endure. I hope that when light passes through my glass in your home, you feel not only beauty, but connection- to nature, to history, to resilience, and to the timeless human desire to leave behind something that outlasts us.
